TRAINING PROGRAM: DRUGS AND THEIR IMPACT ON SOMALI SOCIETY

1. Introduction
This report provides a summary of the training program titled “Drugs and Their Impact on Somali Society.” The program aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its negative consequences on individuals, families, and the wider Somali community.

2. Objectives of the Training
The main objectives of the training were:

To educate participants about different types of drugs and their harmful effects
To highlight the social, economic, and health impacts of drug abuse
To empower youth with knowledge to avoid drugs and make informed decisions
To promote community awareness and prevention strategies

3. Participants
A total of 21 participants attended the training.

12 were male
8 were female

The participants included youth and community members interested in awareness and positive social change.

4. Training Content
The program focused on the following key topics:

Definition and types of drugs
Causes of drug abuse among youth
Effects of drugs on physical and mental health
Impact of drugs on families and society
Prevention methods and community responsibility

5. Key Messages
The training emphasized that drug abuse is a serious threat to Somali society, especially among young people. Participants learned that:

Drugs can destroy health, education, and future opportunities
Families and communities are deeply affected by addiction
Awareness and early prevention are critical
Youth have the power to choose a better path

6. Community Engagement
The program openly invited all youth and community members who are interested in awareness and real change. It encouraged active participation and dialogue on how to protect the younger generation from drug-related risks.

7. Outcomes of the Training

Increased awareness among participants about the dangers of drugs

8. Conclusion
The training program was successful in delivering important knowledge about drugs and their impact on Somali society. It highlighted the urgent need for continued awareness campaigns and community involvement to safeguard the future generation.
